Estate Planning, Administration & Elder Law
Our attorneys assist individuals and families with issues affecting the disposition and protection of their assets. We strive to assist our clients in preparing estate plans to fit their needs through the preparation of wills, trusts, living wills, financial and health care powers of attorney.
We also counsel clients in their Medicaid and long-term care planning issues.
When there is a death in the family, we work with the clerk’s office, financial institutions and other necessary parties to resolve estates quickly and efficiently.
Unfortunately veterans do not often receive the benefits they deserve. We assist veterans in filing and appealing claims with the Veterans Administration. These are technical claims with a great deal of bureaucratic “red tape,” and we will guide you through this process from appeals to hearing representation.
We can assist you from drawing deeds to handling real estate closings on homes and commercial properties.
Personal Injury & Workers Compensation
We handle car wreck cases, premises liability and other forms of injury claims. As your attorneys, we work with insurance companies prior to litigation if the claim can be resolved. If a claim cannot be resolved prior to litigation, then we will handle filing a lawsuit and guide you throughout the litigation process including, if necessary, a trial.
Should you sustain a work-related injury, you may be entitled to workers compensation benefits for lost wages, wage reduction, medical bills and disability ratings. We will assist you in navigating this cumbersome area of the law.
Social Security Disability
If you have paid Social Security taxes and you are unable to work due to physical or mental impairments, you may be entitled to disability benefits. This is known as Disability Insurance Benefits or DIB. Those who have income and resources below certain amounts may be entitled to Supplemental Security Income or SSI. We handle claims at all stages from initial claims through the appeals process and at the hearing level. It is important to have a lawyer with experience in this area because the rules are nuanced and complex. We have handled hundreds of disability claims and are familiar with the issues.
Increasingly issues arise regarding competency of an individual to handle his or her own affairs. In these instances, a guardianship may be the most prudent course of action. We will assist you in handling these sensitive matters.
Sometimes disputes cannot be resolved, and litigation is necessary. We assist plaintiffs and defendants in business and commercial disputes. Our attorneys work with clients at all stages of the litigation process including pre-suit negotiation, mediation, trials and post-judgment enforcement proceedings.
