R. Michael Wells has been recognized by his peers in the 2027 edition of The Best Lawyers in America for his work in Trusts and Estates and in Personal Injury Litigation - Plaintiffs. It is a recognition that comes from the people best positioned to judge the work: other lawyers who practice in the same fields.

Best Lawyers has published its guide since 1981, and its premise has not changed in the decades since: the best lawyers know who the best lawyers are. Attorneys are selected through peer review rather than paid placement or self-nomination, and no fee is required to be considered or to be listed. That independence is what gives the guide its weight with clients and with the courts.

The two practice areas reflect the shape of the practice at Wells Law. Trusts and Estates work is planning work: wills, estates, and the decisions families make well before they need them. Personal injury work on the plaintiffs’ side is the other end of that: standing with people after an accident or a loss, when the questions are urgent and the stakes are personal. Both call for the same thing the recognition measures: the confidence of colleagues who know the work.
