1. HELPFUL GUIDANCE

Mike Wells has written a regular legal column on topics important to citizens for the Winston-Salem Journal for twenty-two years. It is believed to be the longest running column on the law in North Carolina. Our website contains many of them, including valuable summaries of other areas of the law written by other partners. Here are summaries of particular importance, and a direct link for you to give them a quick read:

  1. Common frauds and how to avoid them.
  2. Some common misconceptions about the law you may not know.
  3. Estate planning basics.
  4. What are revocable trusts and how do they help your estate planning process?
  5. Motor vehicle accidents and what you can do to protect yourself if you are injured.
  6. Social Security Disability claims and what you should know about them.
  7. Also, check out other popular columns about the law posted on our website at www.wellslaw.us.

2. ON THE WAY TO THE COURTHOUSE PIECES

Many of you receive the popular "On the Way to the Courthouse" pieces Mike writes. Several of the most popular pieces are on the website. You are free to download them.

Here are two links to some of the more recent ones:

3. DID YOU KNOW?

Our lawyers have given courtesy talks to well over two hundred fifty employee groups for companies, universities and colleges, members of a wide range of bodies of faith, public library public programs, and participants of scores of non-profit groups concerning frequent questions about the law. They are popular and entertaining speakers (we are told!), and they field questions on a wide variety of legal issues. The audiences include Reynolds, Baptist Medical Center, Novant, Wake Forest University, Salem College, Inmar, Forsyth Tech, Winston-Salem State University, Hanesbrands, over seventy-five member groups for churches, and a host of popular non-profit groups such as the YMCA, YWCA, Goodwill, and others.

If you wish to have Mike or our other partners speak to your group, please try to schedule a date and time in the near term. The fall schedule fills up for these courtesy talks and following q and a session, so you are encouraged to call and get the presentation on his schedule. We have talks scheduled for some of the popular retirement communities already, as well as several non-profit organizations in our area. (Please call Leslie at 336.283.8700 or email her at Leslie@wellslaw.us to check our availability.)

Let us know if we can help!

We hope you are having a great Fall!
